Mathare Sub-county is on the eastern part of Nairobi CBD. Covering an area of approximately 3 square Kilometres and the second largest informal settlement in Nairobi after Kibra. Communities living here face challenges like, politically instigated violence and deaths especially during electioneering periods, sexual violence, frequent young adults deaths in the hands of law enforcers because of crime, fatalities caused by fire outbreaks due to lack of access roads hampering swift rescue services just to mention a few.

CPN is implementing two projects in partnership with communities in this area. These are Maternal and Child Health project in partnership with Mabatini and Mlango kubwa communities and the  other one is Beyond Borders Peace Initiative Project in partnership with Madoya Tumaini and Harlem youth groups,  Neci Education Center, Golden bells Academy and Mathare Menno kids academy.
